Meet Jo, one of our 2 Directors!

How did you get into the world of recruitment?

I joined a family friend who was setting up her own recruitment agency.

Why do you love working in recruitment?

Every day is different.  Working in a team is always a winner for me and I enjoy the fast paced, fun nature of office.

What motto do you live your life by?

Don’t put off until tomorrow what can be done today.

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?

Shopping, gin and gym!

 

Gemma

Meet Gemma, our Director!

How did you get into the world of recruitment?

Totally by accident!  I got back from travelling nearly 12 years ago and met Jo at another recruitment agency for a temporary administration role.  I left, she called me about 30 minutes later about an opportunity in her team, I met the Director that evening and I started the next day!

Why do you love working in recruitment?

The variety and pace of work.  I love being busy and simply don’t have the time to sit their clock-watching – if anything the end of the day usually catches me by surprise.

What motto do you live your life by?

Don’t sweat the small stuff!

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?

Looking after my two small people – Aurelia and Zander – and all the fun and games, tears and tantrums that brings! As well as baking (and eating) yummy treats!

 

Karley

Meet Karley, she specialises in high-volume contact centre and sales recruitment!

How did you get into the world of recruitment?

I had recently graduated from University and was invited into a recruitment agency for a meeting to discuss potential opportunities with clients of theirs, whilst there they asked if I had ever thought about working in recruitment… I left the meeting with a new role working for this agency as a Resourcer (not the job I went in for) but have not looked back since!

Why do you love working in recruitment?

I love working in recruitment because it is such a fast paced and challenging environment, where every day is different, you are able to provide a consultative service to both clients and candidates where you build long lasting relationships. You can really make a difference to a client’s recruitment process and the candidates career path.

What motto do you live your life by?

My dad always used to say to me “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door”, meaning opportunities don’t come by luck you need to put the hard work in first to see results! 

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?

Spending time with my little family, going on holiday, buying handbags and drinking the odd glass of red wine!

 

Kate

Meet Kate, she’s our marketing and business services recruitment specialist!

How did you get into the world of recruitment?

I attended a graduate assessment centre for one of the big agencies.  To be honest – I didn’t really know what I was letting myself in for!!

Why do you love working in recruitment?

I love the variety.  Every job is different, every company I recruit for is different and it’s great when you can match that to a candidate to successfully fill a role.

What motto do you live your life by?

You only get one life.

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?

To be honest, there’s not much time left after work, kids and walking my dog but I am actually an Irish dancer.  Nifty feet.

 

Maddie

Meet Maddie (me), I deal with all of the social media, marketing and administration here!

How did you get into the world of recruitment?

I’d never considered working in the recruitment industry and had no experience with recruitment. I joined Pear Tree on an internship after graduating. Here I am nearly 2 years later with a very different perspective on recruitment companies!

Why do you love working in recruitment?

Although I don’t directly get involved with the recruitment, I like how there are always lots of different projects going on. I get to interact with candidates, clients and lots of great companies on lots of different social media platforms as well as promoting Pear Tree and getting our brand out there. It’s very varied and there is always lots going on!

What motto do you live your life by?

Well, you’ve got to ‘do what makes you happy!’

What are your favourite things to do in your free time?

You’ll find me surrounded by snacks, booking my next trip or watching Netflix. I have to add some exercise in there so I don’t feel completely guilty and can justify the Doritos… It’s all about balance!
