Lockdown, Furlough Leave, Zoom – oh my!
What a strange year we are having…
2020 will undoubtedly go down as being one of the worst and one that the majority of us will be quite happy to see the back of!
Like many others in March, Pear Tree adopted a brief home working model before the country was put on lockdown and all business came to a halt. What was supposed to be three weeks turned into five months, and we lost track of the days – only kept on track by our weekly Zoom calls!
The Pear Tree team found various ways to keep occupied during this time: spending our days cleaning, walking dogs, homeschooling and working out. If ever there were a more apt description of Furlough Leave, it would have to be ‘Groundhog Day’!
So, now what?
It’s September, the kids are back at school, something resembling a routine is starting to return, and business is starting to pick back up. For us at Pear Tree, we’ve started a phased return back into the office. We are coming in for a few hours a week to get back into the groove of things and spend some quality time together as a team – something we’ve all really missed.
Although Furlough was tough – we celebrated our work anniversary and team birthdays over Zoom which just wasn’t the same – we have come out the other side relatively unscathed. We even have some new and soon-to-be additions to the team: two puppies and a baby! It’s safe to say that none of us will take our day jobs and the routine and chaos of life that comes with it ever again! We’re just excited to be back in touch with our amazing clients and candidates, and look forward to doing all things recruitment again.
Keep an eye on our social media for the latest on Pear Tree, and while you’re at it, check out Kate’s recent blog post on returning to work, or in her words, getting back into the saddle!
