Any excuse for cake…
Yet again, the months have flown by without any sign of a blog post appearing. It only seems like yesterday that we were all longing for warm summer evenings, but in the blink of an eye we’re preparing our autumn wardrobes. Although we know the world of recruitment can be a quiet time whilst everyone is enjoying their holidays, our second summer at Pear Tree has been a success. We’ve been celebrating a lot in the last few months which means an excuse for cake!
Lots has happened since celebrating our first birthday, but perhaps our proudest achievement to date is being chosen as a finalist for the Start-Up Business of the Year at the Business Leader Awards 2018. Gemma and Jo have worked tirelessly over the past year and a half to get Pear Tree up and running and we feel their dedication thoroughly deserves this recognition. They set out to prove that career development and motherhood can be juggled successfully and that’s exactly what they’ve done. With a growing team, client and candidate base – we’ve come further than forecasted for Year 1!
After the struggles of what to wear had passed, we had a fab night celebrating at the awards alongside some great finalists.
…and the winner is… Poppy’s Picnic, a well-deserved competitor in our eyes!
We took the opportunity to use this “quiet” summer to carry out our office move. The team were now juggling recruitment life, full-time mummying, alongside interior decorating and DIY… If you need a desk being built or the position of a wall sticker chosen, look no further! There were crucial moments when we wondered if we’d bitten off more than we could chew, when we were without phone lines and WiFi; stress levels were high. Thankfully, the office is looking better than ever and we love our new space. There are some final touches to be made but the feng shui works and there’s room for our new face… Welcome Kate!
Kate joined us earlier this month and brings with her a wealth of experience, especially in-house marketing recruitment – as well as her two-litre water bottle – so she’ll slot in perfectly with our team, client and candidate needs. However, it makes it four against one when it comes to giving in to unhealthy office cravings. This calls for another, 100% legit, National Celebration – National Cupcake Week; the perfect excuse for a cupcake baking competition. You’ll see cakes instead of celery and cucumber this week.
Shortly followed by the welcoming of Kate we celebrate Karley and Maddie’s 1st Birthdays with Pear Tree and we can’t believe it’s already been this long! Karley is now working with a great range of clients and smashed her targets. We wouldn’t have come this far without her hard work. Maddie is continuing to grow our social media presence and is taking on a new role in adding to the blog more regularly… famous last words!
Over the next few months we aim to be taking the blog in a slightly new direction. Still posting our quarterly Pear Tree segments but also writing CV tips, interview pointers and all things recruitment. Head back here to see our next updates.
We’d also like to thank everyone who donated towards our Tough Mudder challenge in May, we raised a total of £762.50 for our chosen charity Jessie May Trust, an amazing local cause.
Now all that’s left to say is… bring on the next couple of months (with cake included!)
